Role Overview
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain features across our platform — from backend services and APIs to frontend interfaces and integrations. You’ll work closely with product, data science, and DevOps to deliver scalable, secure solutions that improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs.
Build and refine frontend components for web applications.
Collaborate with data science to productionise ML models for receipt parsing.
Ensure code quality with automated tests, code reviews, and CI/CD.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system performance and scalability.
Contribute to architecture decisions, technical documentation, and sprint planning.
Maintain security best practices and data privacy standards.
Must-have Skills & Experience
3+ years professional software engineering experience.
Proficiency with one or more backend languages (Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Java, or Go).
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices.
Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar).
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MongoDB, etc.).
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong testing mindset (unit, integration, end-to-end).
Good communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
Right to work in Australia.
Nice-to-have
Experience with document OCR/ML pipelines, NLP, or computer vision.
Familiarity with event-driven systems, message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Prior exposure to finance, accounting, or expense management products.
Knowledge of security/compliance standards relevant to financial data.
