As a Software Engineer, you'll design, develop and deploy applications capable of meeting and exceeding the anticipated load, performance and availability volumes, including load balancing, performance testing and benchmarking. You'll be working within a feature team and using your extensive experience to engineer software, scripts and tools that're often complex, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform. In addition, you'll be:
• Producing high-quality software to add value to our business
• Working in permanent teams on the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
• Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capabilities
• Designing, producing, testing and implementing our working code
• Moving across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operationsThe skills you'll need
To be successful in this role, you'll need at least eight years' experience in DevOps, release engineering and environment management. You'll also have an understanding of how to plan and deliver release management and production or test deployment activities. Alongside this, you'll have a good knowledge of the CI/CD pipeline, code configuration and change management governance processes and excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills to work across development, testing and infrastructure teams. Furthermore, you'll need:
• Experience of working with code repositories, bug tracking tools and wikis and designing and implementing APIs
• Coding experience in multiple programming languages
• An understanding of Agile methodology and associated toolsets and methodologies
• Knowledge of relational, in-memory, distributed and NoSQL databases
• Experience of implementing programming best practices around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance
