What you'll do
As a Software Engineer, you’ll design, develop and deploy applications capable of meeting and exceeding the anticipated load, performance and availability volumes, including load balancing, performance testing and benchmarking.
You’ll be working within a feature team and using your extensive experience to engineer software, scripts and tools that're often complex, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.
Your top priorities will include:
Producing high-quality software to add value to our business
Working in permanent teams on the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capabilities
Designing, creating, testing and implementing our working code
Moving across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations
The skills you'll need
To be successful in this role, you'll have a background as a Software Engineer and at least eight years' experience of working on Java or J2EE applications. You'll also be able to deliver high-performance and robust solutions.
Alongside this, you'll have an understanding of the Spring framework, microservices, JSP, JavaScript, XML, WebSphere, SQL, Git and Cloud-based applications, like PNF and AWS.
Furthermore, you'll need:
Experience of working with code repositories, bug tracking tools and wikis and designing and implementing APIs
An understanding of how to work as per Agile methodologies, where team collaboration and timely communication is needed
Coding experience in multiple programming languages
Knowledge of relational, in-memory, distributed and NoSQL databases
