About the role
As a backend engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building platforms and micro services that must scale horizontally and vertically to power realtime games supporting 1000s of participants in individual games and millions of concurrent games. Our services receive 1000s of requests/sec spread around the world. You will be responsible to improve scaling, monitoring, and observability of existing services and building new services to enable multiple verticals for quizzes. 2+ million quizzes are created every month on our platform. Our systems receive billions of responses/day, and you will be responsible for building systems to reliably process terabytes of data/day to solve meaningful problems for the business.
We are looking for passionate backend engineers to join our growing team to build fast, robust, and efficient systems, services, and data platforms and be a part of making key technical decisions to execute our technical vision as we scale globally.
Your expertise
• You have 3+ years of industry experience designing and writing scalable and performant code for complex realtime large scale services, and/or data platforms.
• You have mastery of one or more of the programming languages/storage technologies and understand the internals deeply to be able be debug the hairiest of problems (Nodejs, Golang, Java, Cassandra, BigQuery, MongoDB, Redis, Elastic Search, Python, GraphQL, etc.,)
• You have a strong experience creating and working with the best development practices like automated testing, load testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and alerting to create a high quality developer experience. The more automated and shorter our dev cycles are, the faster our developers can delight our users.
• You are deeply passionate about large scale distributed systems, realtime communication, cloud computing, and storage technologies.
• You have strong experience building and operating in public cloud infrastructure and have a deep understanding of the internals.
Ideal candidate
• You have prior experience working in large scale distributed systems at high growth startups that have experienced challenges of scaling with the fast evolving needs of the business.
• You have multiple years of industry experience working with Go, Typescript, Elastic Search, Cassandra, Map-Reduce technologies like Hadoop, BigQuery, etc.,
• You have prior experience build/operating cloud hosted infrastructure in distributed environments for services, data platforms and ML pipelines.
