Your Role and Responsibilities
About zPDT - System z Personal Development Tool is a software
emulation product that provides one or more System z processors (with
several emulated I/O device types) on intel architecture . It emulates a
System z machine on an Intel-compatible PC running Linux. It is intended
for development, test and education and demonstrations. It is not
intended for production use.
This position is for z engineering development team works on emulating
zSeries Hardware features. The candidates will be part of a worldwide
team responsible in enabling the capabilities of zHW, cloud solution
offerings by leverage capabilities of the emulation stack and IBM cloud
infrastructure. Theresponsibilities includes development, support of zPDT
Virtual I/O in the zOS VSI environment, developing security interface for
deployed zOS, performance and production level messages and codes.
Collaborate with Kernel Virtualization development team in creating
interfaces and consuming these interfaces to handle the request from
application/appliance Software stack. This will include participation in the
design of future I/O pass-thru and work closely with Performance team to
measure Virtual I/O performance,diagnosing and troubleshooting
software problems within Cloud Integration tems.

Overall, 10 years to 15 years of IT experience
Sound knowledge in UNIX/Linux operating system
Experience in developing system Software amp; Linux application.
Hands on experience with Linux kernel modules development
File system, IO Drivers.
Deep knowledge on virtualization, networking, cloud amp; containers
technologies.
Proficient in programming languages C amp; C++
Strong knowledge in System Architecture components (CPU,
Memory, IO, Filesystem)
Solid Analytical amp; problem solving, debugging skills - identify the
root cause of issues
Strong Communication skills
Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability,
scalability, latency, and efficiency of cloud services running on
LinuxONE amp; IBM Z
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
Familiar and exposer to Linux kernel and kvm
Knowledge on zOS and debugging programs on zOS
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to operate
effectively in a global engineering and support environment
Good understanding in container technologies, Kubernetes, Cloud
skills, Networking protocols and C programming languages.
Working knowledge with opensource Softwares
Knowledge on z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE, zLinux will be advantage.
Preferred Education Master's Degree
