What you'll do
Day-to-day, you’ll engineer and maintain innovative, customer-centric, high-performance, secure and robust solutions.
You’ll work within a feature team and use your extensive experience to engineer software, scripts and tools that're often complex, while liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.
Alongside this, you’ll be:
Producing high-quality, complex and critical software to add value to our business
Working in permanent teams on the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capabilities
Designing, creating, testing and implementing our working code
Moving across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations
The skills you'll need
You’ll need a background in software engineering, design and architecture and an understanding of how your area of expertise supports our customers. Additionally, you'll have an excellent knowledge of big data estate and Hadoop ecosystems and how to write complex SQL queries.
Furthermore, you’ll need:
Experience of working with code repositories, bug tracking tools and wikis
Coding experience in multiple programming languages
An understanding of SQL performance tuning, Agile, Jira and Unix
A background of solving highly-complex, analytical and numerical problems
Technical design expertise, including in relation to the development of business applications that use PL/SQL
