In the Cisco Digital Enterprise Solutions (DES) group as part of Cisco Customer Experience (CX), we deliver business services and products to Cisco’s largest customers empowering and protecting today’s software-defined businesses within the function of Licensing and Entitlement development and field support. Licensing and Entitlement is a foundational service to over hundreds of thousands of Cisco customers and partners across the globe and your team will be critically responsible for developing and supporting this ecosystem.
Cisco Smart Licensing is a new way of thinking about licensing at Cisco that is being applied to all products. It provides a Software Inventory Management System that provides Customers, Cisco, and Selected Partners with information about Software Ownership and Software Utilization.
What You’ll Do
As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the software in the development of a product that spans the entire range of Cisco’s portfolio for use with Cisco’s Smart Licensing Portal. You will be challenged to solve complex problems with ground breaking technology across a wide array of business verticals and deliver the highest quality service to our customers. Independent thinking, creative, and self-motivation are key skills for this role.
• Providing input and assisting in architecting the future of the product.
• Creating new features that enable the product to work well with Cisco products.
• Developing a new code that adds new functionality to the product.
• Designing new ways of allowing the product to work with new features that are implemented on Cisco Products.
• Working with various Cisco Products teams to build new end-to-end processes which impact Smart Licensing.
• Working with customers, identifying, and resolving bugs, and improving the product in line with the Product Manager and Product Owner’s guidance.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with Cisco's Entitlements & Licensing Office (ELO) and the Global Licensing Office (GLO) in the US which performs centralized development for all Customer-prem components of Cisco's new On-Prem/Cloud Hybrid management solutions. You will work across continents with all products across every Business Unit at Cisco and provide thought leadership to the company on how best to monetize products. This is a role that touches every product Cisco develops, giving a unique insight into the company.
Who You Are
You are independent and self-motivated with creative analytical skills. You have excellent written and verbal social skills and the ability to learn quickly and critically. You love to learn more and are not afraid to learn a new Cisco product or technology to make sure that both you and the project are successful.
Required skills:
• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Professional experience focused on developing/supporting industry-standard web technologies, and open-source technologies.
• 3+ years in one or more of the programming languages Java/Go/Python development experience.
• 2+ years of Agile engineering experience
• 3+ years of experience with Cloud computing (AWS/GCP)
• Able to debug and fix defects, identify, and resolve problems at the application Level.
• Experience with distributed architecture, microservices, and REST API.
• Problem solver who can work both individually as well as in a team.
• Should be a great teammate and guide Junior Developers in the team.
