The Shell P&T Technology organization (PTX) has embarked on a very inspiring journey to transform the way Research and Development (R&D) is conducted in Shell. To support and facilitate this transformation, the PTX organization has initiated a ‘Lab of the Future’ Program to automate lab data workflows, equip experimentalists and researchers with advanced data access / data mining / data visualization tools, and provide a foundation for future Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Modeling. The business goal of this program is to deliver the foundational blocks which allow PTX to increase the speed to market, provide more agility and flexibility in their R&D processes and improve their operational efficiency.
Our SOM organization is building a DevOps team charged with both delivery (Dev) and support (Ops) responsibilities in support of the Lab of the Future program. The team uses standard Shell IDT processes and tools including Agile, DevOps at Shell, Azure DevOps, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI-CD), GitHub, Test Automation, ServiceNow, and ITIL.
What’s The Role
As a Software Engineer – DevOps, it requires a solid combination of technical and teamwork skills along with a learner mindset. A commitment to both the Dev and Ops aspects of the role is required and it is expected to require approximately 75% of the time on Dev and 25% on Ops but will vary over time based on the needs of the program and supported systems.
Additional responsibilities as you grow in the role:
• Build effective relationships with both business and IT stakeholders
• Continuously build knowledge of and apply Shell IDT’s Dev and Ops tools and processes
• Proactively identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities
• Help challenge and shape business demand in a constructive way when appropriate
What We Need From You
• Minimum 5-7 years of IT experience in a corporate setting
• University Degree related to IT
• Strong SQL Developer skills
• Strong Azure Data Factory and Databricks (w/PySpark) skills
• Experience with Agile, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, QA/Test Automation, cloud hosting
• Solid communications and collaboration skills
• Motivated to acquire new skills including business knowledge
