Responsibilities
The Software Engineer implements and improves our IT applications, analyzes system requirements, and addresses any relevant problems
This position also performs standard testing and provides solutions to ensure high levels of performance and security
Ultimately, the Software Engineer should be able to translate our internal and external clients’ needs into new high-quality IT systems
It is anticipated that over time the candidate will be able to successfully perform all duties below with effective management and training support
Execute full lifecycle software development
Document and maintain software functionality
Identify system requirements
Consult with business partners to track software requirements and features
Collaborate with other developers to produce new systems
Validate changes by testing applications
Train users on new applications and provide support
Ensure system requirements and deadlines are met
Stay up to date with current technologies and technical developments
Formulate and implement solutions to business and system problems
Communicate with customers as appropriate to confirm and understand requirements
Understand what requirements analysis means in the context of a project and how important it is to the outcome
Ensure the testing of applications at various stages throughout the development process
Design application tests to ensure adherence to functional and quality requirements
Understand why business satisfaction is important to successful product/service delivery
Understand the importance of effective business communication
Avoid technical jargon when inappropriate
Focus activities on developing and maintaining positive relationships with the business
Interpret considerations for selecting an optimal testing environment for specific applications
Create test scenarios that ensure all error handling processes perform as expected
Other duties and projects, as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, expected 40 hours a week with flexibility of hours between 6:00am – 6:00pm

What You’ll Do

We're looking for a Software Engineer I to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Software Engineer implements and improves our IT applications, analyzes system requirements, and addresses any relevant problems. This position also performs standard testing and provides solutions to ensure high levels of performance and security. Ultimately, the Software Engineer should be able to translate our internal and external clients’ needs into new high-quality IT systems.

As a Software Engineer I, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Information Technology team in Fort Smith, AR. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, expected 40 hours a week with flexibility of hours between 6:00am – 6:00pm. On-call responsibilities required and possible time worked outside of regular work hours depending on workload requirements.
