Azure Front Door (AFD) is Microsoft’s global, scalable, and secure entry point for delivering web applications at high speed and with uncompromising reliability. By combining intelligent traffic routing, SSL/TLS offload, DDoS protection, caching, and performance acceleration, AFD ensures seamless user experiences for applications hosted anywhere—on Azure or beyond. The AFD engineering team owns and evolves this mission-critical service that underpins some of the world’s most demanding workloads.

We’re looking for a passionate frontend software engineer to help shape the Azure portal experience for AFD and related networking services. In this role, you will design and build high-impact portal features, collaborate closely with cross-functional partners around the globe, and influence the future of cloud networking and developer productivity. Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or C#
OR equivalent experience.
Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and state-management patterns, and advanced debugging / performance-tuning techniques.
Proficient grasp of core computer-science fundamentals—system design, algorithms, and data structures—and the ability to apply them to real-world problems.
Deep familiarity with modern design systems and tooling—such as Figma, Fluent UI, or Material Design—and a proven ability to translate them into accessible, responsive, and performant web experiences.
Demonstrated curiosity and drive to learn, evaluate, and incorporate emerging technologies that improve user experience and engineering efficiency.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications - Ideal applicant :
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
OR related technical field AND 5 -6 + years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or C#
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or C#
OR equivalent experience.
1+ years min hands-on experience building high-quality, well-tested code (unit, integration, E2E) and operating it through CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
1+ years min hands-on experience with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and other LLM-based tools) to accelerate coding, improve software quality, and enhance testing efficiency.
1+ years experience min integrating front ends with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL back ends, including schema design, client-side data management, and performance optimization.
Working knowledge of major cloud platforms—preferably Microsoft Azure—and a track record of profiling and tuning front-end performance for production workloads.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and evolve Azure Portal extensions for Azure Front Door and related networking services, delivering intuitive, performant, and accessible experiences for configuration, monitoring, and diagnostics.
Own the full engineering lifecycle—coding, automated testing, CI/CD deployment, telemetry instrumentation, live-site health monitoring, on-call support, and continuous quality assurance.
Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and back-end service teams across time zones to transform customer scenarios into end-to-end solutions and deliver them on schedule.
Uphold engineering excellence by writing clean, maintainable code, driving rigorous reviews, and ensuring compliance with security, privacy, accessibility, and scalability standards.
Advance platform capabilities by improving shared front-end frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and automated quality gates that accelerate development across Azure Networking.
Leverage data-driven insights and emerging technologies to innovate, optimize performance, and expand AFD functionality.
Foster a culture of learning and inclusion through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback within the team and the broader organization.
