SafetyCulture is a global technology company that is helping to transform workplaces around the world. After witnessing the tragedy of workplace incidents as a private investigator, SafetyCulture Founder Luke Anear recruited a team to help him develop a mobile solution for frontline workers. What we have created is a market-leading workplace operations platform that helps give teams the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to meet higher standards, work safely, and improve every day.
SafetyCulture is among the fastest-growing tech companies in Australia. Its bold ambition is to reach 100 million users worldwide by 2032. Opportunities to be part of a journey like this do not come around often.
What do SafetyCulture Engineers do?
Our mission – and your opportunity – is to contribute to solving the challenges faced in an increasingly distributed workforce. In short, to help build scalable, reliable systems across both frontend and backend components, while developing your technical skills and supporting a high-performing, inclusive team.

As a Software Engineer II, you’ll play an important role in designing and delivering full-stack solutions that improve platform foundations and customer experience. You’ll work with experienced engineers to implement robust backend services and intuitive user interfaces, gaining exposure to large-scale systems while building confidence and capability across the stack.

You’ll be trusted to own features from start to finish, grow your technical decision-making, and collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering peers to ship high-quality software that scales.

This role is part of our Best Fit job match program. We have a variety of Software Engineering roles, by applying to this role will be considered for multiple roles across our engineering teams. We want to set you up for success in your role so we assess your capabilities and then match you up to the best team.
In this role you can expect to:
Contribute to the design, development, and operation of full-stack SaaS systems, including scalable APIs and responsive, performant UIs. Evaluate trade-offs in implementation approaches, involving others in decision-making and sharing your perspective.
Use a modern tech stack that includes Golang, gRPC, PostgreSQL, React, and AWS.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Quality Engineers to build practical, user-focused solutions.
Be expected to apply a practical understanding of AI technologies, identifying simple opportunities to leverage automation or intelligence in feature development.
Contribute effectively within a high-performance team by delivering well-tested features, seeking feedback, and continuously improving your skills and workflows to support team excellence.
Work in a hybrid working environment, including at our HQ based in Surry Hills, Sydney.
Demonstrate SafetyCulture’s values: Think Customer, Open Honest Always, Better as a Team, Be Bold Bring Action.
You may be a great fit for this role if you have some of the following:
Experience working across backend and frontend systems, ideally using technologies like Go, gRPC, and React.
A track record of delivering user-facing features end-to-end, including participation in planning, implementation, and iteration.
An understanding of how to balance usability, performance, and maintainability in your solutions.
A growth mindset and a desire to continuously improve your skills, while contributing to team success through feedback and collaboration.
A commitment to building quality features that meet customer needs and align with business goals.

Equity with high growth potential, and a competitive salary.
Access to professional and personal training and development opportunities.
Participation in hackathons, workshops, and lunch & learn sessions.
