About the role:
• Summary Position overview:
Forcepoint is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer responsible for planning, designing, developing and testing software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. Having a wide-ranging experience, you will use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways and will frequently contribute to the development of new ideas, methods and/or theories. You will also be responsible for the following:
• Essential Functions:
• Developing code according to company standards and quality processes
• Build understanding of the domain (Firewall) and related product(s), including its business aspects, customer use cases, and end-to-end architecture
• Debugging product-level issues, and identifying relevant faulty components, even outside of areas of deep specialization
• Fostering team collaboration, trust, psychological safety, and continual improvement
• Design and driving implementation of features that span the entire product and require collaboration with geographically distributed engineers & architectural teams
• Technically leading small teams of 2-4 engineers to deliver larger and more complex features
• Mentoring, interviewing, and hiring junior engineers
• Writing unit tests and reviewing unit tests of others
• Creating a test strategy that includes all quadrants of the Agile Testing Quadrant for all development work including bug fixes and reviewing test strategies created by others on the team
• Creating and executing tests from all quadrants of the Agile Test Quadrant.
• Suggesting and implementing quality focused innovations in the product codebase, CI/CD, and automated test frameworks
• Preferred Skills and Background:
• 7+ years of related software product development experience.
• Expertise in multiple programming languages (Essential: JAVA & Python, Desirable: C/ C++)
• Bachelor of Engineering in CS or equvivalent field
• Exposure to some of the supporting technologies (e.g. Docker, Web APIs, Jenkin and Robot framework on various OS including Linux and Windows)
• Experience of technically leading 2-4 engineers/scrum team to drive key features
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to present subject matter expertise across the internal business and externally to customers
• An evangelist of agile software development practices
• Exposure to protocols like TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, and others such as debuggers, disassemblers and various OS including Linux and Windows would be of super advantage (not essential though)

About the team:
You will be reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering and joining a team of 2 developers (this role will be the 3rd). You will be working within a larger team of 10 from Senior to Principal Engineers. Occasional customer contacts and escalations will be part of the role.
