Qualifications

The Intern must possess a working knowledge of various Machine Learning techniques as well as experience with data handling, cleaning and extraction

Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as linear regression, classification, clustering, decision tree and neural networks

Knowledge of working with relational databases such as MS SQL

Actively Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and/or equivalent relevant experience

Experience with the following programming in Python, C#, or C++

Experience with software development and project life cycle

Knowledge of basic database and data handling processes

Knowledge of software languages such as Python, C#, or C++

Knowledge of Machine Learning techniques

Knowledge of the basic principles of software programming and database/data handling

Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, Word documents, and presentations

Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees and management

Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures

Demonstrated prioritization and organizational skills

Demonstrated time management skills

Demonstrated problem-solving and trouble shooting skills

Flexible and able to prioritize

Stands and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment

Benefits

The base salary for this summer internship position is between $66,632.00-$83,000.00 + benefits

Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience

Responsibilities

Manager of Application Development, the Intern will work on various development projects within the application development group using Machine Learning techniques, Python programming language, and MS SQL databases

Uses programming language such as Python, C++, or C# to design and develop software applications

Understands the fundamentals of data handling, cleaning and extraction of data files and processes

Partners with other team members or groups to share knowledge and learnings

Prepares end of internship report and presentation

Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level*

Headway internships begin in early June and end in mid-September contingent on student school schedule

The Software Engineer Intern works primarily in an office environment from Monday to Friday

The schedule may be altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building as needed

Occasionally, works in a class 100 ESD sensitive wafer fab manufacturing facility; adheres to required safety and dress standards

May occasionally push, pull, or lift up to 10 pounds

TITLE: SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERN (Machine Learning)

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: SR. MANAGER, APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Application Development, the Intern will work on various development projects within the application development group using Machine Learning techniques, Python programming language, and MS SQL databases. The Intern must possess a working knowledge of various Machine Learning techniques as well as experience with data handling, cleaning and extraction. This position is located in Milpitas, CA.
