Job Description
The Software Engineer I performs low complexity software development tasks related to both supporting or enhancing existing software applications/systems and creating new software applications/systems; the tasks are performed under constant supervision. The Software Engineer I is familiar with basic software development concepts, practices and procedures, able to apply them and learn more complex concepts. The tasks performed by the Software Engineer I may be similar to those performed by the Software Engineer II, but are performed with much more direction and assistance from a higher level position.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs clearly defined software development tasks of low complexity.
Participates in developing fixes or enhancements in existing applications/systems and/or new applications as specified.
Understands and uses technical documentation.
May perform system testing and/or other dutes as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work experience.
Experience
1+ year of study in the field of software engineering or equivalent.
Essential Skills
Ability to learn.
Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, design and develop systems.
Team player and individual contributor.
Ability to accurately identify root cause of technical problems.
Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
Ability to adapt to change.
