We are looking for a talented software engineer versed in Cobol delivery and mainframe architecture concepts to act as a technical expert for our fledgling team in Pune, India.
We’re looking for someone like that to:
• engage in technical designs with the goal to achieve the best possible solution
• will help us to build up a new strategic location in Pune
• conduct code reviews and to engage in the testing of the software (test-driven development is a known term for you)
• support the team in troubleshooting of production issues (L3 support)
• contribute to the reduction of all security and operational risks, in line with the UBS policies and standards
• take ownership and drive deliveries within a supportive team environment
• be comfortable within a fast moving Agile team delivering in frequent cycles
• embrace the complex derivatives on the platform and enjoy the challenge of simplifying and rationalizing
Your team
You will work in a highly collaborative environment with colleagues from globally diverse backgrounds and skillsets coming together to solve challenging problems as a team. The position is within our Be a Client stream closely collaborating with the part of Agile delivery units distributed across the globe. Our teams design, deliver and operate banking product, maintenance systems that offer best-in-class services to the bank’s clients.
Our pods work across a multitude of development languages working together in a model of coexistence whilst we transform, modernize and evolve our platform.

Your expertise
Demonstrating a track record as mainframe tech lead with many years of experience in development, maintenance and production support using Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC) such as Agile & Scrum you will be able to walk us through your professional achievements and skills:
• Extensive technical knowledge of z/OS & z/Abacus programming in COBOL, DB2, CICS and SQL
• Good knowledge of MQ and Filetransfer
• Familiar with OPC scheduling, knowing how to interpret the schedules
• Solid understanding of JCL and IBM Debugger
• Experience in test driven development, continuous integration & deployment
• Excellent communication skills and experience in liaising with other teams
• Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
• A flexible, resilient team player with strong interpersonal skills taking initiative to drive things forward independently adopting principles such as servant leadership
• Hands-on experience in GitLab-facilitated software delivery
Management & mentoring expertise will include:
• an positive attitude & willingness to learn & desire to improve the environment around you
• Good experience working with distributed teams and ability to train the team members on process and technology
• Facilitating Agile ceremonies & monitoring work among the team and adopting responsibility for the successful backlog delivery
Your profile may also show the above and beyond elements such as:
• Experience as a technical/systems analyst, senior software engineer and/or delivery manager
• Track record as engineer working in a globally distributed team
• On-the-job examples of working in a fast-paced Agile environment
