As one of the early member of the team here in our strategic technology delivery center, you will partner closely with our technology and business leaders from around the world to help build the platform to support our growth plans to $50B USD and beyond in the next 3 to 5 years.

Position Overview:

This position is for one of the first engineers to be hired for Fintech & Loyalty (F&L) at the Bengaluru centre. F&L powers all of Wayfair’s payment services, gift-cards, rewards, co-branded credit cards and Fraud detection & prevention. It’s a revenue driver for Wayfair and hence has a long runway.

Responsibilities:

Build high quality technical systems that are scalable, performant using the latest modern Cloud technology
Implement and advocate for engineering best practices, helping level up the engineers inside and outside your team
Demonstrate the drive to improve the team at every step - leveling up your or the team's knowledge, making process improvements, or rearchitecting our platform for the next level of scale
Lead technical debate and decision making ensuring no-regret decisions with appreciation for trade-offs
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other team members
Collaborate with cross-functional partners and partner teams effectively
Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our systems
Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with new technologies and industry trends

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
At least 7 years of experience in software development, with a focus on back-end systems
Deep understanding of modern programming languages such as Java, Python, PHP, C#, Go, Scala, or similar languages.
Experience leading and/or mentoring engineers, leading code reviews and establishing best engineering practices.
Experience making system design decisions and building scalable systems
Experience with databases and SQL
Experience building scalable and maintainable software systems, with a deep understanding of software architecture and design patterns
Experience developing micro-services in highly available and large scale distributed systems
Experience deploying solutions into production within GCP, AWS, Azure or similar cloud platforms
Experience in developing and deploying services/applications in Kubernetes (K8s)
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders alike.
