MRGR is a global team of modeling experts within the firm’s Risk Management and Compliance organization. The team is responsible for conducting independent model validation and model governance activities to help identify, measure, and mitigate Model Risk in the firm. The objective is to ensure that models are fit for purpose, used appropriately within the business context for which have been approved, and that model users are aware of the model limitations and how they could impact business decisions.
The critical role of managing model risk depends on a solid infrastructure and a project management and control mindset. As a member of the Chief Operating Office, you will join a dynamic team that performs the critical task of maintaining the model risk governance infrastructure for the firm. The COO operates in three tracks – (i) a Technology track that focuses on developing tools and dashboards, (ii) Quant Analytics track that focuses on building analytics for ongoing performance monitoring of model used across the firm and (iii) a Business Analysis track that focuses on analytics, metrics reporting, process improvement, and executing strategic projects.
This role will perform the following activities in the technology track:
Develop tools to automate various tasks in the model governance and review lifecycle
Build various dashboard reports to help manage the body of work that MRGR deals with
Translating the existing business requirements in model risk management space into business applications using applied development work mostly in Python using in-house built Python frameworks
Provide oversight of and integration with the MRGR Hub, the central systems infrastructure of Model Risk management
Manage the assets of MRGLab, a sandbox testing environment to allow the development and testing of models as part of model review and governance
Build intelligent solutions to support the activities of MRGR staff
Minimum Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

A Bachelors or Masters degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline with significant exposure to computer programming
3 – 5 years of application development experience in model risk management or financial services space
Proficient in Python and full stack python based application development
Knowledge of Tornado web framework / TypeScript / React required
Good understanding of software architecture and design patterns
Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with other functional areas in the firm on business requirements
Risk and control mindset: ability to think critically, assess user needs and create design solutions to meet user needs
