POSTION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The NCR AMS™ is a product which enables retailers to setup and execute omni-channel communication and promotions, provides a wide range of business services to drive the next generation shopping experience both in-store and online. Our teams develop software in a fast-paced, zero defect environment using the latest software development techniques and tools with a zeal towards customer satisfaction. AMS is a state of art product with a large variety of tech stack including very recent cutting edge technologies.
Primary responsibility is to develop high quality software solutions as a contributing member of a highly motivated team of Engineers. Should be able to understand the what goes behind the building of a complex resilient scalable enterprise products and should contribute through design and development. This individual will hold the title “Software Engineer III” with the expectation to solve complex technical challenges and assist in laying out technical roadmap.
Should have in depth understanding of the basics of the programming. Should be up to date with the Microsoft technology stack of .Net and SQL server. Should have knowledge on building products that will be hosted on the cloud. Hands on experience with .Net core, Azure, SQL PaaS and handling large data volumes will be preferred.
Should have had hands on complex applications/solutions which has integrations with various components. Experience with production systems and migrating customers from legacy systems to later versions is preferred. Advanced knowledge on the best practices on enterprise applications – logging, communication, coding, testing and CI/CD pipeline is expected.

Responsibilities include:
Develop high quality software which meets requirements, promotes re-use of software components, and facilitates ease of support.
Diagnose, isolate, and implement remedies for system failures caused by errors in software code.
Identifies and implements process improvements in Engineering practices.
Utilize software-based system maintenance and tracking tools.
Provide input and technical content for technical documentation, user help materials and customer training.
Conduct unit tests, track problems, and implement changes to ensure adherence to test plan and functional/nonfunctional requirements
Analyze, design and implement software mechanisms to improve code stability, performance, and reusability.
Participates and leads code review sessions.
Create high fidelity estimates of their own work efforts.
Assist others in estimating task effort and dependencies, responsible for team commitments within the Sprint.
May be asked to lead and advise other Engineering resources as part of project activities.
Considered subject matter experts in their chosen field
Participates with industry groups, stays current with technology and industry trends, disseminates knowledge to team members, forms best practices.
Communicate with Solution Management and other internal teams.
Participates in cross-functional collaboration within the organization.
Architecture / Design Technical Leadership
Defines and documents current and future technical implementation and strategy for a significant group of core components.
Assists Architecture with requirements analysis and architecture decisions
Assists developers with significant design
Participants in code review as a mandatory reviewer
Assists in estimating task effort and dependencies for Project Manager schedules.
Assists Solution Manager with technical support during pre-sales customer or PS workshops.
Formal mentoring. Identifies and documents immediate associate and has a mentoring plan for those protégées. Ensures all team members with 2 or more experience are also mentoring more junior staff and have mentoring plans
Mentors TEAMS on Architecture/Design, coding skills, Tools, Processes & Procedures
Assists Global Learning in course development and validation.
Component Quality / Auditing
Responsible for quality and team adherence to Tools, Processes and Procedures
Participates in peer code, test and documentation reviews. The role on reviews is to review the effectiveness of the other reviewers and to ensure that they have the understanding and skills to effectively review. The tech lead must identify and execute corrective actions if the team is not reviewing effectively
Problem Solving
Works with developers to assist detailed problem resolution for difficult problems which are proving difficult for Lead Developers to resolve.
Continuous Improvement
Works on improving use of tools relating to AMS development
Is always assigned and working effectively on at least one Continuous Improvement action.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
A minimum 10 plus years of experience in of related experience in software design and development
A never say die attitude and willingness to learn, explore and take on new challenges often
Hands on experience with building .Net core applications and deploying to production
A minimum 6 years of experience in preferred technologies
o .Net 4.5 or higher
o SQL Server 2016 or higher
§ Excellent querying skills
§ Ability to write complex stored procedures and views
§ Ability to debug and fix issues
§ Ability to improve querying/operation times on huge DBs
o SQL PaaS
o Azure tools – DBs, Instances and Storage
o C# and hands on vb.net
o Good skills on JQuery and UI
o Hands on web services – asmx and wcf
o Automation – Unit tests and BDD
Strong understanding of Software Development and Quality Assurance best practices
Strong troubleshooting techniques and problem-solving skills.
Ability to understand customer needs or expectations, business requirements and technical requirements
Ability to document the requirements inform of word document and/or UML diagrams
Understands and implements best design patterns to produce highly scalable and reusable software products.
