Position Summary
As the Manager of the DevOps engineering team, you are responsible for leading DevOps teams to architect, build, deploy, and operate our cloud infrastructure and services. You will be responsible for implementing design patterns for distributed systems, building/managing Amazon Web Services (AWS), supporting developers with their deployment process, and architecting CI/CD pipelines. The candidate must have strong communication skills, experience with microservices/containers/Kubernetes, leadership skills, and an aggressive delivery attitude.
Our SaaS applications are mission-critical in nature and require a high level of uptime (++.+5%), RTO (4h), and RPO (15m). You are expected to play a vital role in designing, building, and operating our cloud infrastructure to achieve the required performance, scalability, stability, security, availability, and recoverability.
Essential Job Duties
• Design and build cloud infrastructure and architecture for performance scalability, stability, security, availability, and recoverability.
• Be responsible for end-to-end DevOps team performance and delivery, including work planning and delegation, process improvement, and performance management.
• Develop modern design patterns and advocate for engineering excellence for cloud-native development.
• Uphold and champion high standards in the areas of security, compliance, performance, and reliability
• Oversees operational engineering for activities that include platform upgrades, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Drive standards and best practices and continuously improve, modernize, and evolve cloud infrastructure and architecture to support HHAeXchange’s aggressive growth strategy.
• Actively contribute and lead incident responses, recoveries, and communication; collaborate with engineering leadership for improving operational efficiency and higher incident-free-time.
• Work closely with the FinOps team in cloud cost optimization efforts to achieve budgetary goals.
• Set up and drive policies and practices for continuous optimization, performance, cost efficiency, and capacity planning.
• Lead the efforts to consistently meet Uptime, MTTR, RTO, RPO, and other operational KPIs.
• Collect and Report on key operational and service level agreement metrics.
• Stay current with new and developing technologies. Seek opportunities to innovate, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our database technologies and platforms.
• Improve the monitoring and alert system
• Enhance delivery systems with Continuous Integration
• Create and nurture highly available systems on Kubernetes (AWS EKS)
• Identify and implement changes to optimize system performance
• Develop and maintain DevOps documentation in the internal wiki
• Design and develop cloud operation solutions (AWS VPN, Workspace, AWS Backup)
• Eager to learn and implement new solutions on AWS

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, And Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as a DevOps Engineering Manager
• Team leadership – the ability to direct and coordinate team members to achieve goals is a necessity
• Problem-solving skills – the ability to assess issues and quickly create solutions is vital
• Proven experience in researching, advising, comparing, and recommending technology solutions; must maintain a method of keeping current on new technologies
• Experience with delivering resilient solutions that meet regulatory requirements and information security standards
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
• Ability to inspire and lead
• Expertise in AWS, Linux, Ansible, IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation/CDK
• At least 5 years of experience with AWS
• Familiarity with AWS purpose-built databases: RDS, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, ElastiCache, etc.
• Familiarity with relational databases. (SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with one programming language – Python, Go, TypeScript, Ruby
• Experience with version controls (Bitbucket, Github)
• Experience with Microservice patterns
• Proficient in SDLC, Waterfall, and Agile methodologies
• Understanding of web technology stack (HTTP, Cookies, Caching, REST)
• Previous experience with AWS EKS and ECS
• Familiarity with AWS DevOps services (e.g., CodeDeploy, CodePipeline) or similar open-source technologies - like Jenkins
• High-level understanding of Analytics products and data pipelines (ETL, SQL, AWS MSK, AWS Athena, Redshift, QuickSight, LakeFormation, Sisense)
• Ability to implement design patterns for distributed systems
• Comfortable collaborating with teammates working from around the globe
• Technical certifications (AWS Solution Architect Associate or Professional)
