Job Description
We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join our team in Pune. As a Director you will be responsible for the engineering of products used by hundreds of companies and thousands of end users to make critical decisions. Working hand in hand with firm leadership, product managers, clients, and your own team of Managers, you will have an immediate impact in steering a major product portfolio.
You will provide thought leadership, direction & coaching for a team of entry level to your own team of managers. The individual must have proven experience in building and scaling strong engineering teams that deliver quality products working collaboratively with Process Design, Product Management, and Operations teams.

Manage a team of top-notch software developers to build products that extend our Software as a Service platform and drive value for our clients
Ownership of complex software architectures, operational metrics, and running the day to day operations of the business
Provide technical expertise to your team and the entire Our managers have a large say in the technologies and practices of the group and anyone can make a difference
Stand up for engineering practices that ensure quality products: automated testing, unit testing, agile development, continuous integration, code reviews, and technical design
Coach your team by providing clear career objects, priorities, technical advice, and performance reviews
Hire and grow world class software Motivate engineers to go above and beyond
Motivate your team while instilling accountability and keeping a focus on delivering results
Empower your team to use industry best-in-class tools and technologies
Know and care about what customers want from our service – and be willing to stand up for it!
Work with product managers, user experience designers, test engineers, QA analysts, consultants, and program managers to ensure that we build tools that wow our internal and external clients
Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed software development sprint plans and release schedules
Assign and track deliverables to make sure your team meets internal and external deadlines
ZS welcomes candidates with strong management and excellent technical experience:
15+ years of Development Engineering experience in one or more software companies, with a minimum of 3 years of officially being the manager of 5 or more individual contributors
Strong web application development, testing and deployment experience ideally with a commercially available Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product
Ability to meaningfully contribute to high level designs as well as conduct code reviews
Development experience with a modern web application platform, ideally with Java & AWS
Experience using Spark and other Big Data technologies will be a plus
Development experience with Public cloud based deployments, preferably AWS serverless
Development experience on applications with high data volume is an added
Expert in object-oriented programming and relational database concepts
3+ years’ experience in agile/SCRUM software development
Strong verbal, written and team presentation communication skills
Ability to manage ambiguity with evolving business needs
Exceptional problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational navigation skills
Drive to push major initiatives, product changes, or process improvements across our development organization
Ability to work in global cross-office teams, including travelling to remote offices as required
