Profile : Software Engineering Manager
Job Description
• Lead a team of software architects and engineers who design and develop discrete event simulation models, visualizations, and analysis tools
• Drive the design and development of the modeling framework
• Drive the design and development of dynamic web interfaces for input selection, output analysis, and visualization
• Understand and support implementation of algorithms mimicking implementation in warehouse execution software and/or as designed by operations research engineers
• Assess and improve computational efficiency of new algorithms
• Develop the long-term technical vision and roadmap within, and often beyond, the scope of your teams. Evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Oversee systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and review product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Ensure framework and interfaces are user-friendly and user-focused
• Utilize and facilitate use of Agile software development methods and structures
• Manage day to day activities of core platform engineering activities and support dotted line reporting to application-focused teams
• Motivate team members to produce high-quality and user-focused work
• Facilitate professional development and growth of team members
• Collaborate with and communicate to internal and cross-functional stakeholders
Requirements
• Undergraduate degree in software engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of software development experience; Python preferred
• Leadership experience
• Experience with Agile software development
• Experience or familiarity with front end development
• Willingness to solve problems and think creatively
• Passion for creating something new and proactively meeting user needs
Preferred
• Experience developing discrete event simulation models
• Experience in warehousing and supply chain
• Experience in operations research or industrial engineering
