What you’ll be doing
The role is for an enthusiastic, passionate software engineer responsible for taking BT forward. It will entail being a point of knowledge between the frontend and backend team, writing microservices to make everything work together.
You’ll be:
Writing high performance, well tested code that will be used by millions of people.
Designing simple light weight java applications including microservices that can independently be deployed .
Documenting what’s been done, not because it ticks a box, but because it’s useful.
Spreading your experience and knowledge to junior developers.
Delivering a coherent backend, providing api and services that our customers use – including internal portals and other clients.
Wanting to learn new things and keen to bring the team onboard with new ideas.
Skills Required
Experience in working on Large scale Elasticsearch implementation.
Extensive experience in developing Logstash Pipeline, Grok Filters, Ruby code, Ingest Pipelines, Elasticsearch Transforms.
Extensive experience in understanding and handling Elasticsearch and Kibana Issues.
Working knowledge on SNMP traps, Filebeat, Metricbeat and Prometheus Exporters.
Should be able to create complex dashboards in Kibana.
Working knowledge in Kafka and Mirror Maker.
Experience in working on Docker containers & Azure environment.
Excellent debugging skills on Linux environment along with scripting in bash and python.
Should be able to automate tasks and have exposure to DevOps Tools.
In depth knowledge of Kafka, Zookeeper, Confluent Platform, ElasticSearch, LogStash, Kibana, Prometheus
Designing and implementing indices, transformations, pipelines
Recognition in best data structures for functionality, performance.
Good experience with different types of data to be ingested, e.g. various Prometheus Exporters (Node, cAdvisor, for databases, for Kafka, SNMP, etc.), Filebeat for application logs, health metrics, infrastructure metrics, business continuity metrics.
In depth understanding of deployment models for high availability, scalability for a large production environment, clustering, replicas, etc.
Mirrormaker for cross-site mirroring.
