Job description for Solar Rooftop PV Design Engineer
Location : Bangalore
Job Summary :
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Solar Rooftop Design Engineer to join the APAC Engineering Centre in Bangalore. The ideal candidate shall have experience in designing solar power systems for residential, commercial, or industrial rooftops. This role involves evaluating client requirements, designing efficient solar solutions, and ensuring the successful implementation of rooftop solar projects for all countries covered by Southeast Asia region.
Key Responsibilities :
• Solar System Design : Optimal design solar rooftop systems for all stages of project development from pre-sales to post-sales, based on project specifications, including load analysis, system sizing, and optimal panel layout.
• Site Assessment : Review site survey reports and analyze rooftop conditions, structural integrity and perform shading analysis to recommend the best solar solutions.
• Electrical Design : Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnection designs for solar PV systems.
• Software Tools : Use design and simulation software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, Google Sketchup) to model solar systems and optimize performance.
• Compliance & Standards : Ensure designs comply with internal requirements, relevant national / local regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
• Collaboration : Work closely with sales managers, project managers, engineers, and installation teams to ensure accurate design execution and timely project delivery.
• Documentation : Prepare project deliverables during pre-sales stage and ensure quality of detailed engineering documentation in post-sales stage.
• Technical Support : Provide ongoing support during the installation phase and troubleshooting for any design-related issues.
• Communication : Communicate effectively with internal and external clients as applicable, to understand their needs and ensure faster turnaround time for deliverables.
Qualifications :
• Education : Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience : 4-8 years of experience in solar system design (experience in rooftop solar projects in Southeast Asia region is a plus).
Skills :
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in solar design software (PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, Google Sketchup, etc.).
• Strong understanding of solar energy systems, electrical wiring, and components.
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices for solar installation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to clients and team members.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Conversant with MS Office.
Additional Skills (Preferred) :
• Familiarity with energy storage systems (batteries) and hybrid system designs.
• Basic knowledge of structural design and roof load analysis.
Personal Attributes :
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in the renewable energy field.
