About us - eHealth NSW

At eHealth NSW, we’re leading the digital transformation of Australia’s largest health system. As NSW Health’s digital centre of excellence, we design, build and support world-class ICT solutions that improve patient care across the state.

Guided by a Cloud First Strategy, we’re harnessing digital technology to better patient care and deliver scalable, quality, patient-centred, digital healthcare. With your skills and experience, you can help enrich the lives of millions while developing your career within Australia’s largest health organisation—alongside passionate tech professionals, health partners and industry leaders building solutions that truly make a difference.

About the Opportunity

As a Solution Architect of our eHealth Critical Infrastructure Refresh Program at eHealth NSW, you will help make a real difference in healthcare through streamlining the transformation of cloud hosted workloads.

This role offers the opportunity to leverage AWS transformation service to rapidly transform VMWare hosted workloads to AWS native, supported by AWS Managed services.

In this role, you will:

Co-own and shape migration architecture and patterns with solution architects and AWS partners, defining repeatable rehost/lift-and-shift approaches.

Maintain and evolve a migration pattern catalogue, incorporating lessons learned from each wave.

Plan, govern, and execute migration waves, including grouping, sequencing, change windows, and dependency management.

Lead cutover activities, including runbooks, rollback plans, smoke tests, acceptance criteria, go/no-go decisions, and post-cutover stabilisation.

Manage risks, issues, and escalations while driving stakeholder engagement across internal teams, customers, and external partners.

Ensure smooth operational handover and Day 2 support for migrated workloads.

Drive post-migration optimisation, identifying rightsizing opportunities and feeding improvements into BAU without impacting timelines.

About You

Proven experience leading large-scale VMware to AWS migrations, with a focus on rehost/lift-and-shift.

Strong knowledge of VMware and AWS infrastructure (storage, networking, compute, scaling, security) in enterprise environments.

Hands-on experience delivering end-to-end migrations — from discovery and wave design to cutover, testing, and Day 2 operations.

Confident communicator, able to engage with technical teams, customers, senior stakeholders, and AWS.

Experience across hybrid/multi-cloud environments (including Azure), with skills in infrastructure as code (Terraform/CloudFormation), scripting, and exposure to AWS Managed Services.
