About the role
Ottimo House is currently seeking 2 x motivated and experienced full time Sous Chefs to join our fast-growing function and events venue kitchen team. The ideal candidates will have the right attitude and passion for the cooking industry.
Position: Full Time
Salary: 73,000-$80,000 p.a.

What you would be doing
The Sous Chef supports the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and is actively involved in the preparation and cooking of food to ensure high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Preparing and cooking a range of dishes in accordance with menu specifications, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
Actively participating in food preparation during service periods, including cooking, plating, and quality control of dishes before service.
Supervising and coordinating kitchen staff on behalf of the Head Chef to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Communicating and implementing the Head Chef’s preparation methods and presentation standards, including tasting and evaluating dishes to maintain quality.
Assisting with menu planning and development, including contributing ideas for daily specials and seasonal menu updates.
Managing food preparation and service to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and managing inventory to minimise waste and control food costs.
Assisting in managing labour allocation and rostering to meet operational requirements.
Training kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, cooking procedures, and food safety standards.
Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations at all times.
Assisting in recruiting, training, assigning duties, and supervising kitchen staff.
Maintaining effective communication with other departments to ensure smooth service delivery.
Supporting the preparation of reports and addressing operational or staff-related issues in the absence of the Head Chef.
Making recommendations for maintenance, repair, and upkeep of kitchen equipment and facilities.

Minimum 3 years relevant work experience
Creative, and passionate about food and providing high standards of food service
