About the Role
Calgary Academy is seeking a Spanish & International Languages Teacher to join our Integrated Studies program for the 2026–2026 school year to cover a maternity leave. This role includes responsibility for teaching Spanish 20–30 and self-directed International Languages course.
Using a blend of digital tools, conversation practice, cultural projects, and local field trips, the teacher helps students build skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Through both direct instruction and a self-directed learning model supported by Rosetta Stone, the teacher guides students in a variety of world languages, applying core principles of second language acquisition. The teacher provides feedback, encouragement, and structure as students set personalized goals and work toward meaningful progress in their language learning journey.
Additionally, we are looking for candidates with the below:
Bachelor of Education, with a specialization in Spanish, or other languages
Demonstrated fluency in Spanish; additional language proficiency (e.g., French, German, Japanese, Latin) considered an asset
Understanding of second language acquisition theory and culturally responsive pedagogy
Familiarity with digital language learning tools, such as Rosetta Stone
Enthusiasm for experiential learning, including cultural events and field trips
A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Alberta Teaching Certificate and a positive outcome on a current Criminal Record Check, inclusive of the Vulnerable Sector.
