Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Special Education Assistant to join our middle school team. This role involves working under the supervision of certified special education teachers to support students with academic, therapeutic, and recreational needs.
• Estimated Salary: $35,000 - $50,000 per year
Major Responsibilities:
• Performs academic, therapeutic, and recreational tasks under the supervision of certified special education teachers.
• Works with small groups of students to reinforce and re-teach material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assists with routine classroom clerical and housekeeping duties.
• Assists with preparing instructional aids, bulletin boards, and other learning displays.
• Escorts and supervises students during off-campus excursions and testing.
Education and Training Requirements:
• A minimum of 48 hours of college coursework or passing score on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment.
• Participation in staff development activities and para-professional training as mandated by the State Department of Education.
Terms of Employment:
• The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy Manual, Students First Act, and the Board's Salary Schedule - Instructional Aide.
