We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Para Educator to join our vibrant educational community. Duties
Be willing to follow the direction of the licensed Special Education Teacher, who is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the classroom.
Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
Support students with disabilities by providing behavioral management, instructional assistance, and personal care as needed.
Be flexible and willing to adapt to frequent schedule changes as needs develop.
Help develop and adapt lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math skills, early childhood development principles, and curriculum standards such as Montessori or preschool methodologies.
Supervise and engage students during classroom activities, recesses, lunch periods, and field trips to ensure safety and positive behavior.
Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning, classroom management strategies, and progress monitoring to support student success.
Assist in documenting student progress through reports aligned with IEP goals and participate in team meetings for ongoing student assessment.
Skills
Strong understanding of childhood development, early childhood education, and preschool or toddler care practices.
Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities.
Knowledge of special education strategies such as behavior management techniques and curriculum development tailored for diverse learners.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn to support effective communication with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Classroom management skills that promote positive behavior and a safe learning environment.
Ability to adapt lesson plans for individual student needs while maintaining engagement through lesson planning expertise.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, therapists, and other team members.
