Job Description
Health Basix is looking for a special educator who can work in a school setting.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Special Educator:
1. Identify the learning gaps present in the student.
2. Identify the signs and symptoms of disorders related to neurology- ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, seizures/fits disorder, selective mutism, speech and language disorders, disorders of body movement etc.
3. Able to draw a formal/non-formal assessment to check the current status of the child.
4. Is able to use different therapy tools to improve the progress of the child's attention/ learning/ behaviour.
5. Able to apply basic behavioral strategies to remediate the maladaptive and harmful behaviors of the student.
6. Can use different tools and objects to teach students basic academics (handwriting, functional maths, functional language, subject requirement as per school/ parents).
7. able to improve the handwriting of the student.
8. able to assess the cognitive capacity (ability to sustain attention, memory, recalling skills etc) and make suggestions on whether the child will best fit into the academic stream or vocational stream.
+. Able to teach activities of daily living.
10. Counsel parents and teach them strategies to better handle the maladaptive behaviors of the student, counsel parents on shifting the focus of the child to vocational pursuits in case the child is not able to cope academically.
11. Special Educator will use prompts (photos/ videos/ playing objects) from the environment to create a generalization of the learning concept to the students who are not used to paper and pencil or find it difficult to use paper and pencil.
12. prepare an individualized education plan for remedial training and education training after discussing with parents and school staff including the principal.

Qualifications: B. Ed in Special Education, M. Ed In Special Education
