Salary: $99,138 - $148,707

Location: Maricopa Association of Governments, downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Note: A minimum of three days per week in office is required.

About MAG Community Initiatives Division

The Community Initiatives Division collaborates with local governments, Native nations and community leaders to facilitate human services planning and projects that improve people's lives and strengthen communities throughout the region. This includes legacy work addressing homelessness, domestic violence and aging.

The Position

MAG seeks a bright, driven, team-oriented, experienced professional who can administer high-level activities including managing projects, writing in-depth reports, analyzing data, and interacting with key stakeholders and members of the public. The special projects administrator is responsible for project oversight for the MAG Community Initiatives Coordinating Committee and special human services projects. Supporting work also includes efforts and priorities of the Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care.

Key responsibilities include:
• Serves as tactical lead on assigned projects or programmatic priorities, such as the Heat Relief Network, aging and domestic violence.
• Manages workgroup or committee activities, including the MAG Community Initiatives Coordinating Committee. Drafts meeting agendas, minutes, and public postings/notices. Follows up on tasks as an outcome of meetings.
• Develops and drafts detailed policy and technical briefing summaries.
• Builds relationships through regular coordination with member agencies, external agency partners, and non-profit organizations.
• Manages projects including budget review, resource allocation, and funding identification for new initiatives in alignment with policymaker direction.
• Monitors and maintains awareness of federal, state, Native nation, and local issues affecting laws, policies, and programs.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the skills to fulfill the responsibilities listed above. As the most successful candidate, you will also have knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budget management, and relationship building.

You will be:
• Applying effective communications
• Conveying complex concepts and information to various audiences
• Adaptable in performing a wide range of duties, frequently shifting between tasks of varying nature or complexity
• Managing multiple projects with competing timelines effectively
• Organizing and coordinating the efforts of multidisciplinary teams with diverse stakeholders
• Working independently as well as a part of a team

Technology Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Experience and Education
• Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in social work, public policy, business administration, political science, sociology, planning, economics, or other relevant areas of study related to the position
• At least 5 years of related work experience.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
