About the Role

We are currently seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join our Student Supports & Wellness Team for the 2026–2026 school year to cover a maternity leave. This term position will run from August 20, 2026, to June 30, 2026.

Reporting to the Head of Student Supports, this role plays a critical part in delivering assessment, intervention, and ongoing communication support for K–8 learners. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with our Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, as well as classroom teachers, educational assistants, and families, to strengthen student capacity in speech, language, and social communication. Together, they will enhance student success and inclusion through proactive, responsive, and individualized supports.

Salary Range

This position’s starting annual salary is $10+,837 to $11+,+46 and will be determined depending on a candidate’s experience and competencies.

Highlights of Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Intervention
Assess, diagnose, and manage a variety of communication needs, including:
Speech sound, fluency, and voice disorders
Receptive and expressive language difficulties
Social communication challenges and foundational literacy skills
Develop and implement individualized and group intervention plans
Monitor student progress using data-informed practices and year-end reporting
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation for all caseloads

Collaboration & Capacity Building
Work closely with classroom teachers, educational assistants, and support staff to integrate communication strategies into daily learning
Participate in parent meetings to communicate progress and recommend strategies for home use
Contribute to student learning plans (e.g., IPPs) and interdisciplinary support team
Oversee the work of the Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, including:
Delegating appropriate therapy tasks aligned with student goals
Reviewing student progress and documentation
Providing regular observation, coaching, and professional feedback
Ensuring all SLPA-delivered services align with ethical and professional standards as outlined by ACSLPA
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
Current registration and good standing with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant clinical experience in a K–12 school-based setting, with demonstrated success supporting diverse learners.
Strong knowledge of communication development in children, including speech sound production, fluency, voice, language, and social-pragmatic skills.
Experience administering and interpreting standardized and informal assessments across a range of communication domains.
Expertise in designing and implementing effective, evidence-informed intervention plans tailored to individual and group needs.
Demonstrated ability to monitor progress and adjust intervention strategies to meet evolving student needs.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams, including educators, support staff, and families.
Experience overseeing a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA), including:
Oversight of delegated therapy tasks.
Regular coaching and review of documentation.
Ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards set by ACSLPA.
A deep belief in the potential of every learner and a passion for creating inclusive, supportive, and empowering learning environments.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in accessible ways to students, families, and colleagues.
Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple caseloads while maintaining accurate and confidential records.

Working Conditions:

This position will work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m with a 30 min unpaid lunch break.
