Full Job Description
Speech therapists ( speech and language therapists) work with patients across multiple age groups to facilitate the treatment of speech and language disorders, such as stammers, stutters, Tourettes and mutism. Specialising in providing therapeutic services for a specific age group is common among speech therapists, allowing for the fine-tuning of skills and exploring new tools and techniques. For instance, you may choose to work with children or patients that are recovering from intense physical trauma. Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct new case assessments and create therapy plans
Maintain records and share with other members of the team when required
Develop protocols for assessment, treatment and management and assist in their implementation
Guide and train other staff members in speech therapy planning
Create and modify resources and manuals
Participate in other activities on an as-needed basis - case perspective areas
Job Qualification Minimum Educational Qualification: MASLP/ BASLP Considerable knowledge of the methods used to detect and correct hearing disorders. Considerable knowledge of the pathology of hearing and speech disorders. Ability to operate audiometric equipment and to interpret the results. Ability to plan individualized treatment programs and administers therapeutic exercises. Ability to calibrate audiological equipment. Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and conduct correspondence related to the work. Ability to maintain favorable public relations.
