The Role Responsibilities

Job Role
• Technically deliver software projects through all stages of the life cycle, including responsibility towards understanding and capturing requirements, design, development and acceptance testing.
• Identifies potential areas of automation, applies proven mechanisms such as DevOps to conceptualize on those areas and come out with productive solutions.
• Undertake development tasks without supervision, including software designing, programming and testing within a Test-Driven Development process.
• Understand and apply a formal quality approach towards design, development and testing phases.
• Produce high quality technical documentation.
• Provide updates to the Project Manager.

• Awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.

Business
• Awareness and understanding of the Financial Markets environment in which the Group operates.

Processes
• Responsible for owning user stories and delivering on time.
• Responsible for driving through various development / testing phases and implement in production.

Regulatory and Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Lead the team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment].
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
• Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association

Our Ideal Candidate
• A team player; multi-culturally aware with proven success working with cross-functional project teams in global service delivery model.
• Software development lifecycle experience in a mature CI / CD environment is good.
• Working experience in banking industry and familiar with financial products is good.
• Good to know Frameworks (Spring, Spring boot, Camel, JMS, Solace, Kafka).
• A good understanding of SDLC / AGILE and business process improvement.
• Good to have Service or Microservice architecture (REST and SOAP)
• Good knowledge of Java development techniques and environments.
• Strong communication skills including English speaking and writing.
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.
• Must have strong sense of responsibility / ownership.
• Customer-focused approach and attention to details.
• Good to know UI (Ember, ReactJs, HTML5, CSS).
• Build automation tools (Ant, Maven, Gradle).
• Application server (Jboss, Tomcat).
• Basic knowledge of SQL is a must.
