With more than 198,000 members from all backgrounds and demographics across 315 affiliated Surf Life Saving Clubs (SLSCs), we represent the largest volunteer movement of its kind in Australia.

Since its establishment in 1907, Surf Life Saving has saved over 700,000 lives. In the 2023/24 season, our active members were involved in 8,857 rescues, provided 49,331 first aid treatments, and carried out nearly 2.5 million preventative actions, contributing over 1.46 million volunteer patrol hours. Our volunteers are the backbone of this remarkable effort, and through their dedication, we continue to lead the charge in coastal safety across Australia.

This role can be based out of our Bondi or Brisbane office - and will be a mix of in office/hybrid working arrangement.

Job Description
Responsibilities

This position is integral to our mission, driving forward key initiatives and contributing to the overall success of our team. Your expertise will shape our strategic direction and operational efficiency, directly impacting our innovation, growth, and the maintenance of SLSA's iconic Australian brand.

Coordinate the planning, delivery and evaluation of national sport development projects and initiatives
Support the development, review and digitalisation of coaching, officiating and education programs
Manage project timelines, budgets, reporting and administrative requirements
Coordinate national sport workshops, meetings and working groups with internal and external stakeholders
Liaise with state and territory bodies, volunteers, education providers and sporting partners
Support the maintenance of national sport education resources, manuals and accreditation frameworks
Contribute to stakeholder communication, consultation and promotion of program outcomes
Desired Skills and Experience
Who You Are

Our ideal candidate will have:

1) Qualifications:

Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant experience in sport, project management, education or a related field
2) Knowledge and Experience:

Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering projects or programs in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment
Experience undertaking administrative, data analysis and reporting activities
Knowledge of the Australian sport and participation landscape, ideally within a federated or volunteer‑based environment
Experience working collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams
Experience supporting or developing education, training or accreditation programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of Surf Life Saving principles, systems or sport delivery frameworks (highly desirable)
Experience as a coach or official (desirable)
3) Skills and Attributes:

Strong ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
Ability to work effectively within a volunteer‑based organisation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
Well‑developed networking, consultation and negotiation skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
Ability to manage resources, timelines and budgets within approved parameters
Demonstrated initiative, adaptability and commitment to achieving sport and organisational outcomes
