• Offices a 5 mins walk from Debden tube station (Central line)

They are seeking a skilled SQL Database Specialist to design, implement, maintain, and optimize SQL databases for performance, security, and reliability. Their ideal candidate will possess expertise in query development, database maintenance, security measures, and cloud database management, and will contribute to database migration, automation, and capacity planning projects.
Responsibilities
Database Design and Implementation: Develop database schemas, tables, views, and indexes to support application requirements.
Query Development and Optimization: Create and enhance complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for efficient data manipulation.
Database Maintenance: Perform backups, indexing, and performance tuning to ensure optimal database functionality.
Performance Monitoring: Utilize tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
Troubleshooting: Analyse and resolve database issues such as deadlocks, contention, and slow queries.
Security: Implement measures to safeguard sensitive information and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Disaster Recovery: Establish and test backup and recovery plans for business continuity.
Capacity Planning: Monitor storage usage and plan database scaling for future growth.
Training and Support: Share knowledge and best practices with team members and stakeholders.
Cloud Database Management: Manage and optimize solutions like SQL Azure and Azure Managed Instance.
Automation: Use scripting languages to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
Standards and Best Practices: Develop and enforce database standards and industry best practices.
Database Migration: Plan and execute database migration projects with minimal downtime.
Report Database: Create a separate report database to remove overhead on production DB.
Qualifications
Proficiency in SQL database design, implementation, and management.
Experience with tools like Redgate SQL Monitor.
Strong knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions like SQL Azure.
Expertise in database security and disaster recovery planning.
Proven ability to optimize database performance and scalability.
