Job Description
Responsibilities:
The role of the Database Administrator will be to develop physical databases.
Installing, configuring database servers and Administering SQL Server Production/ Development Database.
Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the Production / Development system.
Monitoring and routing requests to the right queue via ITSM ticketing tool. Maintaining development, production, and multiple testing environments.
Troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills for design, creation and testing software.
Ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning.
To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL and T-SQL.
Translating logical data models into physical database designs. Implementing database backup and recovery procedures.
Planning and implementing Backup and Restore procedures. Importing and exporting data using DTS.
Export/Import, Data conversion/Migration, Database object creations, Performance Tuning, analyze SQL code and debugging performance problems
Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges )
Migration of development to production databases.
Technical Skills:
3 - 5 years of solid experience in SQL Server 2012/202017 Database administration and maintenance.
Experience in SQL Server Installation / Upgrade.
Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, data replication issues etc.
knowledge in SQL Server 2012/2017 Clustering environments
Experience with database maintenance activities such as backup/recovery & capacity monitoring/management.
Experience in managing and making software deployments/changes in real time production environments.
Knowledge of tools like SQL Lite speed, SQL Diagnostic Manager
Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and SQL server Architecture
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proactive, independent and proven ability to work under tight target and pressure
Experience working in a highly regulated environment such as a financial services institution
Experience in Virtual/SAN or Cluster/SAN environment is an added advantage.
T-SQL stored procedure development, analysis, trouble shooting and performance tuning.
Microsoft Certification in DBA is an added advantage.
Knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud is a plus.
Ability to develop database utilities and automated reporting
Excellent communication skills and work in close co ordination with the on-shore team members.
Willing to work individually, team or cross team projects that enhance the quality or efficiency of support.
Educational Qualification and Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of formal education - Graduate / Post Graduate in Computer Science / Information Technology.
Professional Experience:
3 - 5 years of experience in SQL Server 2012/202017 Database administration and maintenance.
