This is a great opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Database Administrator to join the UL Database team. This responsibility includes configuration, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, performance tuning and capacity planning of Microsoft SQL databases both on Premises and CLOUD (Azure).
• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL server and related technologies, including SQL server engine, reporting and analysis services.
• Experience in MSQL database administration in the Azure Cloud.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of Microsoft SQL server upgrades, patches, and migrations include legacy servers to current levels.
• Responsible for all aspects of Microsoft SQL server administration including configuration, patching, product upgrades, capacity planning, cloning, backup, and recovery.
• Monitor the performance of the database and make any necessary improvements to ensure optimal performance including high availability when appropriate.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Implement security measures to protect the company's data and infrastructure, including database hardening, encryption, auditing, and user access controls.
• Promote code changes to our production environment, ensuring adherence to our change management policies and procedures.
• Responsible for evaluating patching requests, communicating constraints, issues, and timelines for deployment.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, including procedures, policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Stay up to date with the Microsoft SQL server, Database versions and editions technologies and trends, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
• Experience with ServiceNow and the ability to document procedures is a plus.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in SQL Server database design, administration, and maintenance.
• Expertise in all major versions of Microsoft SQL server technology stack including Database, Reports, T-SQL.
• Firsthand expertise as a Microsoft SQL server DBA including High Availability, Backup/Recovery, maintenance/patching, and Performance Tuning.
• Firsthand expertise with Microsoft SQL server including full life-cycle implementation experience, configuration, administration, and maintenance/patching of the application.
• Excellent analytical and complex critical thinking skills.
• Shell scripting and database programming skills.
• Experience with Logic Monitor is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills – verbal and written.
