Job description
Our client in the public sector is looking for a Full-Time Data Solutions Developer/DBA who will design, implement, and maintain secure database systems while developing innovative data solutions. We are seeking a collaborative team player and experienced database and data solutions developer skilled in database server administration, database design, security, and performance optimization, with a strong foundation in data analytics, cloud-based solutions, and complex data queries.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

The role is a balanced mix of database administration and data solutions development, with the following breakdown:

50% DBA Responsibilities:
Backup and restore databases.
Set up users and security protocols.
Install and manage SQL databases on servers.
10% Data Science: Utilize tools like Python or R
10% Data Engineering: Develop ETL pipelines and manage data workflows.
10% Database Encryption/Data Replication: Implement TDE and manage replication processes such as snapshot, transactional, and merge replication.
10% Azure SQL: Manage and optimize cloud-based database solutions.
10% Complex Database Development: Create and maintain advanced database objects, including views, stored procedures, functions, and complex queries

Qualifications
onsiderable experience with on premise SQL Database environments
Thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques associated with database design and management.
Ability to analyze and evaluate various data and information requirements and to prepare recommendations regarding the advisability and feasibility of incorporating changes or additions to the corporate data model.
Ability to establish standards and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, availability and recovery of all data.
Ability to serve as project manager for a variety of infrastructure and database projects, establish project schedules, assign and guide the work of team members, and monitor progress.
Experience with data modeling
Experience with building data pipelines and ETL processes using SSIS is an asset.
Experience with database replication, mirroring, and encryption
Experience with setting up new Microsoft SQL servers and databases.
Thorough knowledge of software development methods, practices, and procedures.
Ability to prepare technical design and write technical specifications.
