Position Title: Sr Continuing Education Accreditation Specialist

Department: Proficiency

Location: Calgary, Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver

Status: Permanent Full-Time Position

Hiring Range: 70,000 - 90,000

The Senior Continuing Education Accreditation Specialist manages all aspects of CIRO’s accreditation of educational programs to support CIRO’s proficiency requirements and strategic direction relating to Continuing Education (CE).

Core Responsibilities:

Manages the intake process for educational programs submitted by external providers for CE credit

Reviews submitted programs to determine accredited CE credit hours and issue approvals on behalf of CIRO with minimal supervision

Provide feedback to applicants to assist them to understand CIRO’s accreditation decision

Proactively identify opportunities to enhance CIRO CE program

Liaise with Dealer Members, Approved Persons and other stakeholders regarding the accreditation process and CE programs and incorporate feedback into the accreditation process as needed

Participate in discussions with the Proficiency Committee and other advisory committees

Reports to stakeholders on the accreditation process and CE programs

Lead and mentor the CE Accreditation Specialist in their work

Oversee accreditation inquiries from internal and external stakeholders and ensure escalation as needed

Supporting the department, including acting as a key contributor on CIRO objective to enhance the CIRO CE program including harmonization of the two programs

Key Skills and Competencies:

Must-haves

Relevant post-secondary education

Minimum 5 years in securities regulation and/or investment industry

Excellent working knowledge of CIRO registration, proficiency and CE requirements, including competencies of CIRO (ID and MFD) Approved Persons

Excellent judgment in applying accreditation criteria to a wide range of material; and tact when dealing with Dealer Members, Approved Persons and applicants

Awareness of regulatory, business and cultural trends relevant to Dealer Members and Approved Persons

Excellent oral and written communications skills

Ability to deal with multiple tasks and meet deadlines with competing priorities

Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills

Strong attention to detail

A proven ability to work productively and collaboratively with colleagues and various stakeholders

Nice to Haves

Experience in professional certifications, learning design and/or education assessment an asset

Ability to work in both English and French is an asset

CIRO is a pan-Canadian organization that oversees all investment dealers and trading activity in marketplaces across Canada. This position requires the ability to communicate with employees in CIRO regional offices and other CIRO stakeholders across Canada. Accordingly, proficiency in both official languages of Canada (French and English) is mandatory. Due to the frequent interactions with internal and external English-speaking members, clients, representatives, firms, Canadian provincial and territorial securities regulators, and employees situated outside of Quebec, the position requires a fully bilingual candidate.
