Sr. Data Scientist
Essential Functions
• Responsible for exploring relevant data sources, generating business understanding of the data, and developing the logic to transform the data into insights that can be leveraged for this endeavor, connect the dots to different aspects of building connections/graphs of the venture ecosystem
• Build, design, and develop a robust data model to accomplish the goals of this connections program as well as assist in building out analytical tools/solutions. Document the data transformation logic and understanding for other analysts to follow.
• Developing efficient, scalable, and repeatable processes to transform data on a regular basis
• Partnering with other data scientists/business analysts to make them familiar with the transformed information so that it can be appropriately used by other analysts and data scientists
• Using standard methodologies framework to ensure data quality and reconciliation checks are in place and are transparent to our users
• Using communication skills to collaborate effectively with analysts across SVB
Preferred Skills
• Hands on experience on AWS SageMaker.
• Maintaining, and evolving the cloud infrastructure of web applications.
• Manages the process of designing, developing, and setting up an ideal AWS cloud solution
• Extensive knowledge and experience in AWS Development and process management, Python, Big data
• Solid understanding of writing and understanding of complex SQL queries
• Demonstrated experience with the data mining tools SAS/Anaconda and SQL preferably through Oracle PL/SQL.
• Proven Documentation (technical and user documentation) and Verbal and written Communication skills
• Good understanding of BI Methodologies and Practice
• Experience with systems integration, building system models by combining model components and testing the integrity of modeling systems, proficient with model and systems implementation testing
• Knowledge of Data Governance and DQ framework is a plus
• Background in data management in Banking/Finance industry is preferred
• Experience with ETL and data modeling tools is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to self-manage and multitask in a dynamic, ever-changing environment
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Flexibility to work/manage variety of projects
• Bachelor/master’s in computer science, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or operational research
• Working knowledge with Tableau is a plus
• 3+ years of experience in analytics and/or business intelligence space
