Requirements
• Current certification in Microsoft Database Technologies ordemonstrates a commitment to self-development such as progress made towardscertification such as exams already taken.
• Committed to gain further professional qualifications, education andtraining.
• Current certification in ITIL service management, to at leastfoundation level.
• Current certification in APM or equivalent, fundamentals of projectmanagement. Application and certificates Experience
• Demonstrable experience of managing and supporting enterprise databaseinfrastructure solutions and technologies.
• Experience of IT technology and products including Windows server,Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL and PowerShell/scripting.
• Technical knowledge and experience of administration, design andimplementation of SSIS and SSRS.
• Theoretical and practical experience of Database back-up and recovery.
• Experience of working in a Higher Education institution.
• Experience of working with SITS, Agresso, Scientia.
• Experience of Microsoft Azure Technology.
• Experience in database migration. Application, test, and interviewSpecial Knowledge
• Expertise in SQL Always on availability groups configuration andmanagement.
• Ability to interpret business requirements and develop an appropriatesolution.
• Ability to quickly and effectively solve technical and other workrelated problems in a logical and methodical manner.
• Good knowledge of emerging database technologies.
• Good knowledge of IT security and information security standards.
• Familiarity with Service Delivery standards and frameworks (e.g. ITIL).
• Basic understanding of networks.
• Experience of working with SITS, Agresso, Scientia.
• Demonstrable project management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• To manage relationships with key businessstakeholders and technical colleagues to investigate, analyse and assessbusiness solutions within the University in order to design, develop andimplement suitable database solutions.
• To provide advice and support for projectsrelated to the procurement, implementation, customisation and rollout of newdatabase systems and associated software applications.
• Write high quality design specifications,test plans and code for testing and implementation.
• Provide Analysis on how the University canbest leverage the investment in database technology and associated CorporateSystems to achieve business process improvements
• To liaise with other staff in Computing& Library Services regarding hardware and infrastructure requirements forthe implementation and maintenance of database technology and associatedinformation systems
• To provide continuous monitoring,maintenance and management of existing databases /information systems with aview to making amendments/ enhancements/ configurations to existing software ordatabase resources when necessary
• To participate in data quality andsecurity initiatives to ensure high quality secure data in all systemssupported by the team and advise on quality and security in other areas
• To ensure all developments have received thecorrect level of authorisation and checking prior to release
• Liaise with colleagues to investigate andresolve faults
• To deliver change by providing customersupport and training, with accompanying documentation
• To develop processes to allow timely and appropriateaccess to data
• Participate in planning and implementingthird party vendor software, including upgrades
• To keep abreast of new developments ininformation systems and database technology
• Generate high quality reports, or assistothers to produce reports, from systems supported by the team
• Act as technical expert for identifieddatabases, association with related applications, andshare knowledge as appropriate
• To carry out other appropriate tasks asrequired by the department from time to time
