We are seeking a Sr. Java Developer for Risk IT to design, develop, and support high-performance, scalable applications within a hybrid work model based in Toronto. This role requires deep Java expertise, strong understanding of microservices, messaging platforms, and batch processing, with a focus on building risk management applications. You will be responsible for delivering end-to-end solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and integrating strategic changes into legacy environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver scalable and high-performance Java applications from concept to production.

Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to understand functional use cases and translate them into technical solutions.

Design and implement microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.

Develop and maintain batch processes and real-time data pipelines using Kafka, JMS, or MQ.

Work with databases using PL/SQL and optimize SQL queries for performance.

Contribute to DevOps CI/CD pipeline (Helios) for smooth code integration and deployment.

Support and integrate enhancements into legacy applications developed in C++/.NET.

Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with appropriate unit and automation testing.

Troubleshoot and debug production issues; deliver fixes and improvements independently.

Work closely with the engineering team to ensure smooth transitions and modular deliveries.

Technical Profile:

Java, J2EE, Spring Boot (including Spring Batch and Spring Integration)

Kafka, JMS, MQ (messaging/streaming platforms)

Microservices architecture and design patterns

PL/SQL, relational databases

Batch processing design and implementation

Linux scripting and command-line utilities

CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (Helios)

Functional Profile:

Risk or financial systems development background preferred

Ability to independently manage modules and deliverables

Effective multitasking and time management skills

Strong collaboration with product and engineering teams

Comfortable working in hybrid environments and legacy system transitions

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $34.88/hour - $54.50/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
