About this Role
The Core Tools Team provides mission critical infrastructure used by thousands of engineers across Cloud Software Group. These product development systems include:
● Work management and collaboration (Jira, Confluence)
● Build and continuous integration (Jenkins, Artifactory)
● Source code management (Bitbucket, GitHub)
● Static code analysis (Sonarqube, Coverity, Snyk, Mend)
As a manager of this team, you will leverage your years of hands-on engineering, operations and leadership experience to manage a team of 7-10 individuals in the APAC region. You will report directly to the Sr Director of Tools & Analytics and your team will partner with an Americas-based team to provide global 24x5 operations. Your charter is to work closely with internal users and stakeholders to ensure that our software development pipeline is optimized for reliability, performance and scale.
Primary Responsibilities
● Provide the foundation for successful Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices
● Embed yourself into SRE projects to keep your skills sharp and stay close to the
operational issues
● Drive recruiting, retention and development opportunities for the team
● Provide your direct reports with performance feedback and day-to-day guidance
● Communicate across business units to both engineers and management
● Maintain project plans and workload metrics
● Maintain quality and performance measures including SLA, SLO and SLI
● Continuously improve team operations and best practices
Basic Requirements
● Bachelor's / Master's Full Time degree in Engineering
● Strong technical knowledge from previous roles as a software developer or cloud engineer
● Successful track record managing people and projects
● Experience with Agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum
● Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
● Strong analytical, critical thinking, and strategic thinking abilities
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
● Ability to balance keep-the-lights-on-work, toil reduction and strategic projects Preferred Technical Qualifications
● Proficiency with Linux administration
● Proficiency with configuration and orchestration tools like Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes
● Proficiency in virtualization and cloud computing such as Azure, AWS and GCP
● Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
● Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) strategy in cloud environments
● Experience with monitoring and event management tools like Splunk and New Relic
● Administration experience with various engineering tool stacks such as Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket), JFrog tools (Artifactory, Xray), etc.
● Experience administering a high-availability database clusters
