Qualifications

5+ years of experience using Power BI

Superior communication, collaboration skills and interpersonal leadership skills

Proven experience as a Microsoft Power BI Developer and/or Data Engineer

Experience in dimensional modeling, including tabular modelling

Understanding of database management systems, ETL (Extract, transform, load) frameworks and SQL language

Expertise in data visualization and storytelling, including creating interactive reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI using standard visuals

Experience creating paginated reports in Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

Experience working with Python

Comfortable writing Power BI DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to build measures and calculated columns

Experience in Data Management and understanding of database systems

Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative

Ability to demonstrate attention to detail, a strong analytical mindset, and able to produce high quality, accurate reports from high-level requirements while working in a high pressure and dynamic environment

Responsibilities

Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements, including integration with knowledge frameworks for current and new BI dashboards and other visualizations this documentation should be ready for use by a technical audience doing hands-on implementation in PowerBI

Migrate and redesign current visualization reports from Tableau to Power BI service

Create data models; extract, correlate, and transform data from various sources, including the SharePoint Intranet, flat files, Enterprise Business Vocabularies, and the document management system

Work closely with the business and IT owners of these data sources to obtain and integrate the needed data in PowerBI appropriately

Extract data from flat files and transform them into the required format using Power Query

Create simple and complex visualization dashboards which may involve calculations, string manipulation, custom aggregations, etc

Develop parameterized reports, including sub-reports and drilldowns

Apply data visualization and user-centered design best practices to make the dashboards consumable by a diverse audience of internal and external users
