About the Role
This role will be part of a team that develops software interfaces with all major TV streaming providers and downloads tens of thousands of movies and TV shows from US and international platforms. This team is at the heart of Nielsen's streaming measurement strategy, continually updating their software to adjust to the quickly evolving streaming environment.
The Sr. Software Engineer is ultimately responsible for delivering technical solutions: starting from project onboarding until post-launch support, including design, development, testing, and user acceptance. It is expected to coordinate, support, and work with multiple decentralized project teams in multiple regions.
As an AWS Sr. SW Engineer, you will work on our video and metadata capture systems, processing large audio files using proprietary algorithms to generate audio signatures/fingerprints. Your role will involve designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable solutions that leverage Java and Python/SQL code optimized for the AWS platform. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of our projects and mentoring other team members.
Key Responsibilities
System Deployment: Design and build new features in existing video and metadata asset capture and processing Implementation: Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment continuous integration and delivery of features, improvements, and bug fixes Quality and Best Practices: Enforce coding standards, best practices, and design code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high code quality Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in both client-side and data upload applications for remote/unassisted and cloud-based environments Collaboration: Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on technical aspects and best practices with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to software development Compliance: Implement security best practices for all tiers of the compliance with industry standards and regulations related to AWS platform security.
Required Skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, minimum 5 years of software development expertise on the AWS platform Experienced with scripting languages such as Python Good experience with SQL and a database system such as Postgres Minimum of 2 years developing and deploying applications to the AWS cloud, preferable using Lambda functions Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tools. GitLab a plus Good problem-solving and debugging communication and collaboration skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply Able to innovate solutions within a group

Knowledge of networking principles and security best certifications Java experience helpful Experience with Test Automation suites using the Selenium framework
