Senior Software Engineer Role
We are looking for a skilled Senior Software Engineer to work on various distributed, cloud-based applications that transform and process real-time traffic data, producing content used by customers around the globe.
The candidate will participate in all stages of software development, including software design, coding, testing, release and support. This individual will follow a software development process and be accountable for conformance to software quality standards, including the creation and execution of unit test plans. They will also work collaboratively with other engineering teams to ensure cross-functional goals are met.
Develop, test and deploy software components
Investigate and correct software and system defects
Learn new technologies and programming languages
Create and maintain configurations and scripts for software releases
Participate in agile planning sessions with teammates and stakeholders
Requirements
We require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT or comparable field and 5+ years of software design and development experience. The candidate should have a demonstrated understanding of algorithms and data structures, as well as knowledge of both functional and object-oriented programming. Experience building and enhancing production applications is also necessary.
The ideal candidate will have proficiency in Java 8 and Java EE technologies and strong problem-solving skills. Familiarity with common build tools (. Agile, Maven, CI/CD - Jenkins and GitLab) and knowledge of cloud-computing services, especially Amazon Web Services (AWS), is also required.
Nice to Have
Experience writing code in Scala is a strong plus, as well as the ability to write scripts in Python, Ruby or Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash). Exposure to containerized software solutions, especially Docker and Kubernetes, and experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Redis are also desired. Proficiency with big-data technologies like Spark, Hadoop M/R, Hive or Pig is a plus.
