This role is for the development and support of new areas of functionality and new product offerings, with a heavy focus on Web API, ASP.NET MVC and SQL Server databases. The successful candidate will have a number of day-to-day responsibilities which will include liaising with SMEs and developers in order to understand development requirements. They will follow Agile development and deployment practises, delivering software to a high quality and to meet requirements. They will also be expected to work closely with the QA team to ensure a high and accurate level of test coverage
Business Functions
Paymaster IT is responsible for end-to-end delivery of all EQIT services into EQ Paymaster. Essentially this breaks down into two main areas; namely, Platform Development and Professional Services. This is reflected in the structure, with most functions being accountable for both platform development and delivery services. Most platforms in use by EQ Paymaster have been developed internally and some platforms are in use by external software clients whom we also support. We have a continual programme of development of the main products and subsidiary products across both the workplace/occupational pensions and L&P market sectors. Recent additions to the product set include a responsive self-service offering, web services for integration into other web sites, a mobile offering and the recent standalone RetireMe app.
Core Duties and responsibilities
Successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties
• Should be responsible in developing applications on ASP.NET MVC.
• Should have appropriate level of expertise of using several of the following technologies:C#,.NET FrameworkWebAPI and API development in generalASP.NET MVCMicrosoft SQL Server, and SQL in generalORM Frameworks (for example Entity Framework, Hibernate, etc.)Unit and integration testingDependency InjectionJavascriptTypescriptMicrosoft Visual StudioAutomated deployments and continuous integrationSource control
• Exposure to the following technologies/ Tools/ Methods are desirableMicrosoft TFS or Azure Devops ServicesGitxUnit and JasmineAutofacAgile Methodologies such as Scrum or DSDMSignalRRabbitMQAngular (Angular 2)Azure DevOps Pipelines (formerly TFS Build and Release)
Skills Attributes and Behaviour
Successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and behaviour
• Should have an overall 4+ years of experience in developing application on ASP.NET MVC.
• Able to work under general direction within a clear framework of accountability
• Able to plan, schedule and monitor work activities in order to meet time and quality targets.
• Highly flexible, including willingness to work away from home base.
• Communicates fluently in a non-confrontational manner and can present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Can rapidly absorb new technical information and apply it effectively.
• A good team player capable of delivering results in less than perfect circumstances.
• Pragmatic, tolerant of ambiguity, willing to backtrack and seek multiple solutions.
• Visionary and entrepreneurial with a positive "can do" attitude towards the technical and commercial challenges facing Equiniti and our customers.
