The Opportunity:
OpenText is seeking a talented, personable technical writer who contributes to the SMB Technical Writing team by creating sophisticated technical content for a variety of software products. As a senior technical writer at OpenText, you create content, contribute to department innovations, mentor writers, and produce professional content on various platforms. As a customer advocate, you participate in the planning process and help define the product content requirements.
You Are Great At:
• Producing high-quality, clear, accurate, and complete content (online help, UX, tooltips, how-to
• videos etc.) with no errors, within established deadlines.
• Organizing and prioritizing tasks and have exceptional analytical skills.
• Managing multiple projects and deliverables.
• Assisting and mentoring other writers and participating in content reviews.
• Working in an Agile development environment while gathering information for a writing
• assignment from a variety of sources, including development, QA, UXD, and product
• management.
• Researching and learning new technologies in Technical Communications.
What It Takes:
• University degree (BA or MA) in English, Technical Communications, Creative Writing, or
• equivalent degree with 5 - 8 years technical writing experience.
• Exceptional English and communication skills. Experience writing using a corporate style guide
• and defining documentation processes.
• Exceptional knowledge of content/help authoring tools: Madcap Flare, Adobe RoboHelp, etc.
• Sound knowledge of XML, HTML, and CSS.
• Some knowledge of the following software development tracking tools: JIRA, TFS, etc.
• Experience with video production, such as video design, editing, script writing, quality
• assurance, and post production releases.
• Experience in writing content for localization is required.
• Experience with version control and deployment software
