Staff Accountant (Multi-State Tax & Reconciliation Focus)

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position plays a vital role in managing accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with multi-jurisdictional tax requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience in bank and credit card reconciliations, as well as payroll journal entries and state/local tax filings.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations for all company accounts

· Perform monthly credit card reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are properly categorized and documented

· Calculate, prepare, and file sales tax returns for the following jurisdictions:

- New Mexico

- Arizona

- Colorado

- Navajo Nation (including Sales and Junk Food Tax)

· Create and post monthly payroll journal entries, ensuring proper allocation to accounts and departments

· Assist with year-end close processes as needed

· Collaborate with internal departments as necessary

Qualifications

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent work experience)

· 2+ years of relevant accounting experience preferred

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

· Experience with multi-state and tribal tax filings a plus

· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

· High attention to detail and accuracy

· Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Skills

· Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP/accounting software

· Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis

· Familiarity with payroll accounting practices

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
