Inly School is an independent PreK–8 Montessori-plus School located in Scituate, MA that serves over 300 students from 20 South Shore towns and is deeply rooted in Montessori, child-centered, and inclusive educational practices. Position Overview:

Inly School is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Staff Accountant to join our Business Office team. This position oversees and manages all aspects of the payroll and accounts payable functions at the School, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial transactions. This position will also be responsible for coordinating benefits administration with the other members of the Business Office team. The ideal candidate will maintain a proactive approach, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness, maintain compliance with both federal and state regulations, and follow GAAP.

The Staff Accountant will use Paycom for payroll, Blackbaud for accounting, and will work closely with the Director of Finance & Operations and the Controller to ensure accurate and timely financial and benefits-related operations.

This is a full-time, exempt, 12-month staff position. Working hours are 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday. The Staff Accountant is a member of the Business Office team and reports directly to the Director of Finance & Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll:

Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees using Paycom

Maintain and audit employee records for accuracy, including tax forms, pay rates, and benefit deductions

Manage quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including payroll reconciliations and W-2 processing

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations

Accounts Payable:

Process all invoices and payments in a timely manner using Blackbaud

Monitor vendor accounts, reconcile monthly statements, and resolve discrepancies

Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions

Coordinate with division heads to ensure proper invoice approvals and coding

Benefits Administration & HR Support:

Assist in the administration of employee benefits, including health, dental, life, disability, and retirement plans

Serve as a point of contact for faculty and staff questions about payroll, benefits, and HR related matters

Help onboard new hires and maintain accurate benefits records in Paycom

Process Improvement & Compliance:

Review existing processes and identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and enhanced internal controls

Maintain thorough documentation of procedures and workflows

Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and school policies

Qualities of an Ideal Candidate:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll, accounts payable, or general accounting

Prior experience in Paycom and Blackbaud, or comparable systems, is strongly preferred

Prior experience in a school or nonprofit setting is a plus

Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

High level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and proactively identify improvements.

Salary and Benefits:

Inly School offers competitive pay and benefits. The annualized salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience.
